EOT Cranes
EOT cranes are actually the
Electronic Overhead Travelling Cranes which has become an essential industry
requirement and it is used as equipment implicated to material handling job. It
can be of different types. Among them the Overhead EOT single girder
cranes are the standard ones and are used to lift the objects by a hoist
fitted in a trolley. The EOT CraneManufacturers have again classified it in two different categories:
- Based on the number of cross- girders under which the single and double girder cranes are present.
- Based on nature of running it can be top running and under running cranes.
So, let’s discuss about the cranes Based on the
number of cross-girders:

Single Girder Cranes
Overhead
EOT Single Girder Cranes cost less in many
ways as only cross girders are needed and can be installed quickly and its
runway beams are lighter enough due to reduced crane dead weight.

Double Girder Cranes
This Overhead EOT
Double Girder Cranes are
compatible with wide pans and heavy weights.
These are used in lifting heavy loads that cannot be done by
normal cranes.
Again, EOT crane configuration has under running and
top running cranes like:
- Under running:
Running on the bottom flange of runway girders, the
running cranes are supported from the roof structure. They are advantageous
since the very small trolley approach dimension can utilize the maximum of the
building's width and height. There is a possibility of using the existing
ceiling girder for protecting the crane track.
- Top running:
In Top running, a girder is a support beam which is
used to denote the main horizontal support of a structure that supports smaller
beams.
